About
Founded in 2014, the School of Humanities and Social Science (hereinafter referred to as HSS) of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen is an exceptional and collaborative community of faculty, students, and alumni dedicated to improving lives and expanding opportunities through the comprehensive study and effective practice of humanities and social science.
The bachelor programmes include Translation (No enrollment plan in 2025-26), Applied Psychology, English Studies, International Organization and Global Governance and Urban Management. The master programmes include Translation and Interpreting Studies, Simultaneous Interpreting, Global Studies, Applied Psychology, Chinese Language and Literature, Computational Social Science. The MPhil-PhD programmes include Global Studies, Translation Studies, Applied Psychology, Computational Social Science, Urban Studies. Meanwhile, HSS is actively preparing to establish the Institute of Computational Social Science and Institute of Chinese Culture, which will be dedicated to developing a high-level international academic platform to exploit the new development of social science in big data era, and inherit and promote the outstanding Chinese traditional culture. In the future, a new series of interdisciplinary programmes and research institutes will also drive the further development of HSS.
In addition to major-related courses, HSS provides university core courses for undergraduate students in multiple areas, including General Education, English, Chinese, Physical Education and Information Technology, so as to lay a solid foundation for holistic education.
HSS has been globally recruiting high-caliber faculty with rigorous standards of a world-class university. With over 180+ full- time faculty members, HSS has a strong team consisting of distinguished senior scholars and a large number of young academic leaders. Most of them have learning, teaching and research experience overseas, with numerous papers published in leading journals at home and abroad.
HSS will continue to shoulder the important responsibility of passing on fine humanities tradition, and make greater strides!
