2000 USDThese programs consider the different needs of basic education science teachers in terms of content, curriculum, and pedagogy. It aims to give a solid foundation in basic content, knowledge of the scientific language and generally accepted paradigms, exposure to practice of science, and practice of science teaching. The program likewise aims to provide skills in the facilitation, classroom management, and performance assessment. The thesis is envisioned to be research on science education, or equivalently, a collection of three papers in content, experimental design and policy/current issues. The two programs are intended to assist science teachers so that they can meet the content and performance standards of the new science curriculum in the K to 12 basic education program.
